What is District Roundtable? 


"The Single Most Important Function of a District"

Roundtable is a form of commissioner service and
supplemental training for volunteers at the unit level. The roundtable provides leaders with program ideas, information, policy and events, and training opportunities. The roundtable is a wonderful forum (a roundtable!) for sharing experiences and enjoying fun and fellowship with fellow Scout leaders! Roundtable will inspire, motivate, and enable unit leaders to provide a stronger program for their Scouts!

You don't want to miss the camaraderie developed at Roundtable!

How it works
After most of the general information / dates are announced and flyers passed out, the groups go into break-out sessions.


There is a designated facilitator for Troop / Crew leaders and a facilitator for Pack leaders.  The Cub Scout session often has a variety of craft ideas that are inexpensive and entertaining for the Cub Scouts.  Sometimes various Leader trainings are offered during Roundtable. 
This is also a great opportunity to learn more about council and district events.

    Do you have questions about how to solve issues in your troop or pack? Roundtable is a perfect opportunity to learn different ideas and get feedback to take back to your unit!

 All registered leaders and committee members are welcomed AND encouraged to attend!

(Note:  There are often handouts from fellow leaders that are available only at roundtable.)

Welcome to Roundtable 2017-2018!
 
Roundtable meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month (August through May) with the possible exception of the months of December and March.  The 3rd week of March is usually Spring Break for Palm Beach County Schools so March Roundtable may meet on a different Wednesday.
 
 
Where: Grove Park Elementary School
(across the street from the scout shop, this is a new location as of February 2015)
School Address: 8330 North Military Trail Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 33410.

When:  Third Wednesday (August through May) unless otherwise noted
 
Time: 6:45PM - 8:30PM  - Bring a new member and earn an extra ticket for you and your guest.  Reminder you must arrive before 6:59PM to earn tickets to win free prizes. We will begin Promptly at 7:00PM.
 
Donations are always accepted for our Giveaways scout gear, camping supplies and gadgets also we take gift cards for restaurants....
 
What to bring:  Bring a yummy dish to share.  Check out themes for each month. Bring your favorite game, song, skit or activity to share with the group.  
 
What to wear:  Scout Uniform  (Field/Class A or  Activity/Class B).
 
* If you wish to be on the agenda, please  provide your own flyer (approx. 60 copies) and email Barbie Mayer - bmayer.lhdrtcc@gmail.com or Kathy Leno - kathymfox@att.net with a request to be included on the agenda. We want our leaders and guests to be informed however, please keep in mind we also want them to go home on time. Please keep all announcements short, sweet and informative.
 
Note from the Roundtable staff:
Our objective is to encourage units to bring ALL of their leaders and parents to Roundtable.  We have a RT walking stick for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.  The unit with the highest number of attendees for that night will take the walking stick back with them to their units and decorate it with something that represents scouting or their unit. 
 
In the year (2014-2015) to make our Roundtable even more competitive, we added RT Critters: a bear, fox and owl.  Every month the fox and bear will go home with the unit that has the 2nd highest numbers of attendees. Once the unit has the Critter back with them with the scouts, the leader will need to take pictures of the critter and send it to bmayer.lhdrtcc@gmail.com.  Please include the critter, unit that you are in and a brief description of the activity you are doing. 
 
The Owl RT Critter has a new task for now it will be watching the RT guest carefully and seeking out whooose interacting & participating during the Break-Out Session.  One unit will be rewarded for the month.  Please  send pictures of the owl doing things along with your scouts. 
 
In the near future, my plan is to have the OWL as the Venturing Critter.  Owls love the HIGH ADVENTURE activities.  Right now we are on a quest to have more attendees from our crews and ships to attend Roundtable so that Venturing can have their own Break Out Sessions.  If you are interested in being the Venturing RT Liason please see Kathy or Barbie.
