the beginnings....

The Meet and Greet at the hall  on Nov 14th 2013
the beginning of the Qualicum Bay Theatre Group
What a great night. 38 theatre people showing up to share experience and look to the future of a theatre group. The personalities and creativity shone in the ice breaking theatre game. Breaking into four random groups to play "Pitch the Production", with team names based on card suits... 50 Spades of Grey, Murder Club, Diamond Ice and the very popular Heart Asses took to the stage. Each team pitched ideas for what would be the best production to bring to the hall. Out came the ideas... Everything from Musical revues to Slam Poetry nights. Murder Mysteries, Drama, Dinner Theatre...

After meeting with everyone, the question loomed... 'Where do we go from here?' Ideally, farther down the road, we will have a fully functioning Community Theatre Board with Society status that will enable us to apply for grants etc.. In the mean time.. we will work on productions that are brought forward by our loosely knit group under the umbrella of the Hall Board.
First things first... Our wonderful resource, Thea Stavroff, has agreed to facilitate some acting classes. Learn the basics, join in some improv games, get comfortable on the stage. Thea's extensive background in both acting and directing combined with her gentle sense of humour and ability to bring out the best in people will make this a sure fired good night for theatre.
