Below are various Word documents concerning research or programme notes on the music of Ligeti by Dr Mike Searby and Dr John Cuciurean's thesis. There are three chapters from my PhD thesis on Ligeti's later music An Investigation of the Transformation of Compositional Process in György Ligeti's Music 1974-83, with Particular Reference to Pitch (Goldsmiths College, University of London, 2006) . Chapter 1 gives an overview of Ligeti's music and examines his use of a kind of tonality in his later music. Chapter 2 is a literature review which covers the main texts on Ligeti's music up to 2004. Chapter 6 summarises the main conclusions of the PhD and I have also included the bibliography for the thesis. The rhul paper was delivered at Royal Holloway University and deals with Ligeti's opera Le Grand Macabre. I have also uploaded my 1987 MMus thesis Compositional Process in Ligeti's Chamber Concerto (Manchester University 1987) in 5 sections.
John Cuciurean's PhD thesis is also attached below - it is entitled A Theory of Pitch, Rhythm, and Intertextual Allusion for the Late Music of György Ligeti (University of New York at Buffalo, 2000).
