WELCOME TO THE LIBRARY!

The mission of the school library program is to ensure that students are effective users of ideas and information; students are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and
ethical users of information.

We are so excited to have students in the library and look forward to sharing our resources this year!  There are some changes from past years, so please read over this information.  The Library Agreement form can be found here.  Please sign and return to the library.

Library Account Information
and Online Catalog

  • What books do I (or my child) have checked out?
  • When are these books due?

Go to saintvincent.goalexandria.com.  Click on Researcher, then "Log in" with your username which is the student's library card number (your teacher or Mrs. Zanarini can give this to you if you don't have it), and password which is the student's initials, lowercase. Click on the student's name, then on the "activity" tab to see what is checked out and when it is due.

  • What books are in the school library's collection?
Go to saintvincent.goalexandria.com.  Click on Researcher.  You are able to search by author, title, subject, series or keyword.  You may place holds from the website by using your library card number and password.

Library Policies

Please remember library materials are shared with everyone at the school, treat them with care and return them on time so everyone has a turn to read them.  Thank you!

Check Out Policy
K-1st Grade will be allowed to check out up to 2 items for 2 weeks.  2nd-5th Grade will be allowed to check out up to 3 items for 2 weeks.  Middle school will be able to check out up to 5 items for 2 weeks.  Renewals are always available if you are not finished or need more time with the item.  And please ask if you want to check out more books -- we want you to have the resources you need from the library.

Students will still be able to check out books if they have not met the maximum number of books out, even if they have an overdue or lost book.

Overdue Books
No overdue fines will be charged, but reminders will be given to students after an item is more than 2 weeks late.  Overdue notices will be sent home at the end of every quarter before report card time.  No late fees will be charged, but quarterly report cards will not be issued until overdue books are returned or paid for.  Parents will be contacted the week before report cards are due with information in this case.

Lost or Damaged Books
If a book is lost or damaged, the replacement cost listed on the overdue notice, will have to be paid.
IF THE LOST BOOK IS FOUND at a later time, please return it and you will be refunded.

Parent Library Cards

Parents are welcome to get library cards too and check books out!  The library is open afterschool and you are welcome to come by for a library card and to see what items we have.  We even have a special Parents Collection with books on parenting, study skills, etc.

Library Procedures

Checking Out Books:  Bring your items to the checkout desk.  The librarian or volunteer aide will scan your library barcode and books for you.  You may stamp your book’s date due slip with the date stamp.

Returning Books:  There is a “Return Books” bin in the library.  If the library door is shut, please set the books into the “Book Drop House”.

Renewing Books:   Hold onto items that you'd like renewed until it is time to check out your books.  Tell the librarian or volunteer aide that you'd like the book renewed. Renewals will be allowed as long as there is not a hold on that title.

Sharing Books:   The student who checks out a book is responsible for its return, so if you want to share the book with a friend make sure it gets checked out on their account.

Reshelving Books: Please use a shelf marker to identify the spot where a book was removed from the shelf.  Otherwise, the book must be returned to the “Book Return” bin.

New Books:   Books will stay on the New Books display for 2 months.  We will also maintain a list of what's new and you are encouraged to place them on hold if you are interested in checking them out.

Reference Books:  These books must be returned to the library the same day and cannot leave the building.

Thank You for Following These Rules!
