Rishi Bankim Chandra Evening College (RBCEC), Naihati, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal,
was established in 1947. It is renamed as Evening Section of the erstwhile Rishi Bankim Chandra College, named after the Great Literateur Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The college was shifted to this present location at Kantalpara on the eastern side of the track the next year June, 1948, when the day section of the college started.

The College Library of the Rishi Bankim Chandra Evening College named as ‘RISHI BANKIM LIBRARY’ is now located in 2nd floor of the new building ‘B-Block’. Rishi Bankim Library (RBL) has been running since the inception of the college itself on 1947. The library began its journey with the help of very small number of books of only commerce faculty. Now all streams such as Art & Humanities, Commerce & Management and Science with UG and PG-M.Com. are taught in this college. The RBL is computerized through open source KOHA software with around 13,000 printed books. Library services are provided to students, faculty, staff of the college and other members who satisfy required terms and conditions.



The Library and the Reading Room are open from 3.30 pm to 9.00 pm except on 2nd and 4th Saturdays, Sundays and Institute holidays.



The Library is open to all Under Graduate and Post Graduate students, to all non-teaching staffs, to all teaching and administrative staff of the College. Other persons including ex-students requesting use of the Library for reading or reference purposes may be admitted as Outside Members at the discretion of the Librarian.
