Perfectly situated around the city plaza, the Malabon Public Library is a very enticing place to visit to all its locals because of the attractive Pink color that the library is adorned with. Standing in a 2-storey building, the library houses almost 10,000 titles of print and non-print materials ranging from Children’s books to Academic resources.

For the books’ organization, the library adopted the Dewey decimal classification and is currently using the Online Public Access Catalog of the National Library called “Koha.”

The library is being funded directly under the Office of the Mayor. Since its foundation in 1967, it has grown to become the center of learning for the people of Malabon as it caters to all walks to life. In 1995, it was relocated to its current address in Justice Compound because the city mayor believes that the library should be reachable to the people.

Being manned by 12 personnel, the library offers many programs and activities such as: Book Mobile to public schools and barangay libraries, Story-telling session, Film-showing of book-to-movie-adaptations, puppet-shows, parol-making, Valentine’s day card making, Halloween costume competition, and feeding-program and gift-giving.

In has one branch library in Hulong-Duhat, Malabon; but even so, the librarian and library staff see to it that they cater both the main library and its branch library to best serve the people of Malabon. As per the city librarian, she deems to provide library programs and activities every single month to encourage the Malabonians to use the library and to value the relevance of literacy.

For the circulation of library materials, the library provides a library card wherein the requirements is for the borrower to have a guarantor (either the barangay chairman or a school teacher) to sign his/her library card to be able to borrow from the library. These guarantors will also be tapped responsible for the library materials circulated to the people who borrowed from the library.
