Prayer Chain

What Is A Prayer Chain?

A Prayer Chain is a part of the Caring Ministry of our church. Our Chain consists of a Chairperson and members. One way we receive prayer requests is from, sheets posted in the narthex and the west hall. Also in the Contemporary Service. Many are received during Sunday services from the congregation. Another way is by personal phone calls to Nancy Legg (the chairperson) or the Church office. The numbers are listed in the bulletins and newsletters and on the website. The prayers may be for healing, for strength and hope during life’s difficulties, or for special joys and thanksgiving. Once a request is recorded, the chairperson checks names and passes them on to the members by email. This means that approximately 12 people are daily offering intercessory prayers to Jesus on your behalf. Prayers are not limited to LHUMC people. Friends and relatives from anywhere in the United States have called for our prayers. We also receive from the internet.

We are looking for new members – anyone who likes to pray! It only takes a few minutes to pray for those people. If you are interested call Nancy, (410) 859-1380, call the church office, (410) 859-0990 or email at office@lhumc.org.

In James 5:13-16 we read:  Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. Are any among you sick?  They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up: and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.
