多媒體互動教學:概念映照在華語抽象複合詞學習成效之研究 (A study on the effect of multimedia interactive instruction on abstract compounds learning by learners of Chinese as a second language)

藉由開發華語互動教學媒體,以概念映照的教學策略,希望能協助學習華語的外籍人士成功掌握華語抽象複合詞的使用。華語中有大量的複合詞,大約佔華語詞彙的60%左右,對於外籍學生學習複合詞是一大負擔。另外,許多華語複合詞的語意相當抽象,更無法透過具體的物件進一步理解其語意。所以,如何利用教學策略及數位學習軟體幫助外籍學生準確習得抽象複合詞語意及其搭配詞用法,是教學者及教學軟體開發者主要課題。但是目前的研究及應用產品中,並沒有針對這個議題開發出以理論為基礎的數位教學策略及產品。本計畫基於這個動機,試圖利用多媒體互動教學的方式來教授華語的抽象複合詞。數位教材中,我們將指導學生利用具體的物體或事件映照到抽象概念來學習華語複合詞及其搭配詞,相信這樣的概念映照策略可幫助外籍學生成功地習得華語抽象複合詞。另外,利用多媒體來教授華語抽象複合詞,有傳統教法不能企及的優勢。透過多媒體軟體所提供的情境動畫,讓學生更能掌握概念映照策略,進而成功習得抽象複合詞語意及用法。

總結,這個計畫有二個目標,

1. 開發以概念映照為基礎的華語抽象複合詞互動教學軟體

2. 提出實驗證據來證明我們所開發的互動教學軟體對外籍人士華語學習是有效果的

本計畫是第一個提出這樣的教學策略及學習模式運用在對外華語學習上。相信本計畫可以針對目前的教學及學習理論研究提供新的研究結果及觀點,並試圖把這個研究成果運用在真正的對外華語文教學上。


In this two-year application, we will conduct an interdisciplinary research project (Linguistics, and Education and E-learning) by developing a multimedia software for foreigners leaning Chinese as a second language and examining the effect of the teaching strategy of conceptual mappings on Mandarin abstract compounds learning. In particular, foreigners have difficulties in learning abstract compounds in Mandarin since their meanings are less concrete and there are few concrete/physical resources that can be used in helping students acquire them. Based on this motivation, in the first year, we will develop a multimedia software that will guide students to use the strategy of conceptual mappings in learning abstract compounds and their collocations. Students will be instructed to map the abstract compounds to concrete concepts. In addition, the abstract compounds will be introduced by scenario-based animations for students having longer vocabulary retention. In the second year, we will conduct two experiments: a pencil-and-paper cloze test and a pencil-and-paper experiment on sentence-making, in order to evaluate the effect of the use of this multimedia software in Chinese teaching/learning.

In brief, there are two goals in this project:

• Develop a conceptual-mapping-based multimedia software for learning abstract compounds learning

• Demonstrate empirical evidence to support the teaching strategy of conceptual mappings are effective in learning abstract compounds in Mandarin Chinese

 This is the first project that proposes the use of conceptual mappings on learning Chinese as a second language in Taiwan. We believe that this project can provide a new perspective on developing CSL products and allow us to have a comprehensive picture on language learning theories.
