Levite DNA's Historical SNP-Based Trees for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites

As a matter of historical interest, posted below are the following versions of LeviteDNA's SNP-based trees for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites based upon full Y-DNA sequencing (primarily, but not exclusively, Big Y testing performed by Family Tree DNA). The trees are posted in chronological order: (1) Levite DNA's SNP-based tree for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites and their closest matches as of November 7, 2014 (at a time when only nine R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites had done full Y-DNA testing); (2) Levite DNA's SNP-based schematic tree for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites and their closest matches as of July 12, 2016, the date when this website first posted a schematic tree in this format; (3) Levite DNA's SNP-based schematic tree for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites based upon Build 37 (hg19) as of December 2, 2017, a month after publication of Dr. Doron Behar’s paper on R1a1a Ashkenazi Levites and before FTDNA converted to Build 38 (hg38); (4) Levite DNA's SNP-based schematic tree for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites as of May 23, 2020; (5) Levite DNA's SNP-based schematic tree for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites as of June 18, 2022; (6) LeviteDNA's SNP-based schematic tree for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites as of September 5, 2022, without surnames of tested men but with time to a most recent common ancestor ("TMRCA") as reported as of that date by FTDNA's Discover Tool; (7) Levite DNA's SNP-based schematic tree for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites as of August 9, 2024; and (8) Levite DNA's SNP-based schematic tree for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites as of May 2, 2026.

Below is a schematic tree that shows the SNP test results received through November 7, 2014 for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites and their two closest matches who are not R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites. 

Here's the description of the tree as posted on November 7, 2014: The tree identifies SNPs at or below the level of R1a-Z2469/CTS6, the level of SNPs now believed to identify R1a1a Ashkenazi Levites and their closest matches (that same level is also sometimes referred to as R1a-M582).

Below is Levite DNA's SNP-based schematic tree for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites as of July 12, 2016, the first date that this website posted a schematic tree in this format. By this date, 85 R1a-Y2619 men had received full Y-DNA results, up from seven men as of November 14, 2014 and 45 men as of January 23, 2016.

Below is Levite DNA's SNP-based schematic tree for R1a-Y2619 Ashkenazi Levites as of December 2, 2017, a month after the publication of the 2017 Behar paper. This spreadsheet was prepared using Y-DNA SNPs reported using Build 37 (also known as hg19); shortly thereafter, FTDNA started reporting Y-DNA SNPs using Build 38 (also known as hg38). By this date, 116 R1a-Y2619 men had received full Y-DNA results, up from 85 men as of July 12, 2016.

By this date, 282 R1a-Y2619 men had received full Y-DNA results, up from 209 men as of May 23, 2020.
