The American Judo and Jujitsu Federation is a worldwide organization of martial arts schools dedicated to the preservation and promulgation of the Danzan Ryu system of Jujitsu.
Danzan Ryu Jujitsu was founded by Henry Seishiro Okazaki in the 1920’s in the Hawaiian Islands, and is one of the most comprehensive and most widely taught styles of Jujitsu in the United States. It includes not only all the pertinent elements of an effective self-defense system, but also a complete system of resuscitation, massage and healing arts.
Professor Okazaki had immigrated to Hawaii from Japan at an early age in search of work in the islands. When as a young man he was diagnosed with incurable tuberculosis he committed himself wholeheartedly to his martial arts training and put his health in the hands of his sensei. He ultimately recovered and dedicated his life to the practice and teachings of what is now Danzan Ryu.
The ultimate goal of Danzan Ryu Jujitsu is completion of character. It achieves this goal by retraining the body/mind relationship so that fear is replaced with confidence. Danzan Ryu is a sophisticated martial system designed to cultivate your warrior-spirit and help you become the person you were meant to be. Master the system and you master yourself.
Jujitsu is a Japanese philosophy of self-defense, relying on skill and technique rather than strength and size.
