·  Seishiro Okazaki arrives in Hawaii.

1909

· Seishiro Okazaki moves from Honolulu to Hilo.

· Seishiro Okazaki is diagnosed with tuberculosis.

·  Merlin “Bud” Estes is born in Wyoming.

1910

· Seishiro Okazaki begins his study of Judo at the age of 19.

1912

·  John Cahill is born in Hawaii.

1917

·  Seishiro Okazaki studies the Hawaiian fighting arts of Lua

·  Wally Jay, founder of Small Circle Jujitsu, is born in Hawaii.

1922

·  Seishiro Okazaki is promoted to Shodan.

·  Hachiro Okazaki, son of Seishiro Okazaki, is born in Hawaii.

·  Seishiro Okazaki fights and defeats western boxing champion, Carl “Kayo” Morris.

1924

·  Seishiro Okazaki travels to Japan to visit various Jujitsu dojos and collects techniques that will later be included in his system.

1925

· Seishiro Okazaki receives the Judo rank of Sandan from the Kodokan.

· Seishiro Okazaki returns to Hawaii.

1927

· Seishiro Okazaki is listed in the Maui directory as Professor Henry Seishiro Okazaki.

1929

· Professor Okazaki publishes his book, The Science of Self Defense for Girls and Women.

· Professor Okazaki opens the Nikko Sanitorium of Restoration Massage in Honolulu.

1931

· Professor Okazaki opens the Kodenkan dojo at his residence.

· The first Kodenkan class consisted five people, including his son, Hachiro

1939

·  Professor Okazaki begins teaching Shinyo no Maki.

·  Tom Ball is born in California.

1948

·  Professor Okazaki suffers a stroke that leaves him partially paralyzed.

· The first organization of Danzan Ryu schools on the U.S. mainland was named Northern

California Judo & Jujitsu Association. This organization later becomes the American

Judo & Jujitsu Federation.

· The American Judo & Jujitsu Federation is founded by Richard Rickerts, Ray Law,

Bud Estes and John Cahill.

1950

·  Professor Okazaki suffers a stroke.

1951

·  Professor Okazaki suffers a massive stroke.

·  Professor Okazaki passes away in Honolulu.

1953

·  Dennis Estes is born in Washington.

1956

· The American Judo & Jujitsu Federation is incorporated as a California non-profit

corporation.

1959

·  Hawaii becomes the 50th state.

·  Professor John Cahill passes away in California.

·  First edition of the AJJF kata manual is published.

· Tom Ball is awarded the title of DZR Professor at 27 years of age.

·  Duane Sheely is born in California.

· Duane Sheely graduates from high school.
