Call For Abstracts
We are pleased to announce the 11th annual Legal Philosophy Workshop (LPW), and to invite you to participate. We are excited to host the 2024 workshop in-person on June 13-14 at the University of Michigan. You can submit an abstract, volunteer to comment, and sign up to be on the mailing list by filling out this form.
LPW is an annual pre-read workshop designed to foster reflection on the nature of law and the philosophical issues underlying its different areas. Our aim is to promote work that connects legal philosophy with other branches of philosophy (e.g., moral and political philosophy, metaphysics, philosophy of language, epistemology, or philosophy of action) and to create a venue for the critical examination of different viewpoints about law. All sessions are plenary and you can find more Information about LPW for this year and years past on our website.
We would like to invite you to submit an abstract or to volunteer to comment. Please ensure that the abstract is anonymized and that it does not exceed 1,000 words. This is also a call for commenters. The deadline for volunteering to comment and submitting your abstract is January 15, 2024. We expect to make our selection of abstracts by the mid-March 2024.
Once we have received abstracts, we aim to put together a diverse program that we hope will be of interest to a wide range of people interested in legal philosophy. Please note that this is an open call for abstracts, so please feel free to forward this information to anyone who you think might be interested in presenting a paper, commenting on a paper, or attending the workshop.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
