John Eglich

Coach John Eglich enters his 24th season of coaching high school baseball.  2018 will be his second year in the Lee’s Summit West program.  Before assuming the LSW varsity assistant position, Eglich compiled 22 seasons coaching at Truman High School with the last 12 years as the varsity head coach.

As a player Eglich was a stand out for Truman High School.  While at Truman John was a recipient of All-Conference and All-Area honors.  During his junior year he teamed with Coach Meyer to lead the Patriots to the state quarter finals.  During his senior year the team reached the Missouri State Final Four placing 4th in 1990.

John attended Iowa Western Junior College in Council Bluffs, Iowa following his high school career.  The Reivers made the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado his freshman year finishing as the NJCAA 5th ranked team in 1991. With the impressive junior college career, John committed to play at Western Kentucky University.  He finished his playing career in 1994 and returned to his hometown to begin coaching as a varsity assistant under his mentor Rick Berlin in the spring of 1995.

John and his wife, Monica, have a son Ryan and daughter Avery, and currently reside in Blue Springs, MO.
