A New Approach to Pólya Urn Schemes and Its Infinite Color Generalization

Debleena Thacker

In this poster presentation we extend the study of infinite color balanced Pólya urn models for a wide variety of replacement matrices. The major contribution of this work is to embed the distribution of the randomly selected color into the marginal distribution of the associated Markov chain sampled at random times. This representation is valid for both finite and infinitely many colors. Therefore, we use this representation as a key tool to study up to expectation, the asymptotic properties of the infinite/finite color Pólya urn models.
