Your opportunity

posted 10 Jul 2017, 10:46 by Martin Sylvester

This Mission, the first week-long mission in our parish since 1990, is an opportunity for you to ask questions, to look at your relationship with God or share your hopes with us.

Come along and try it – you are invited!

Who is leading the parish mission?

posted 1 Jul 2017, 15:23 by Martin Sylvester   [ updated 1 Jul 2017, 15:24 ]

Our Parish Mission is being led by two Redemptorist priests.

Until recently Fr. Kieran Brady has been running St. Mary’s, Kinnoull,  a retreat centre in Perth. He is now involved in a new mission in Erdington Abbey Birmingham. He has been leading retreats and missions for many years.

Fr. Thomas MacCarte is an experienced parish missioner and has given many retreats and missions across the U.K and Ireland. Fr. Tom is based at St. Mary’s Perth.

The ministry of preaching “Good News” is the work of the Redemptorists.

"It is through the  invitation of your parish priest and parish pastoral council," they write, "that we are coming to celebrate this Mission with you."

I don't go to church anymore, or I go rarely. Am I welcome?

There are many reasons why people stop going to Church or don’t go very often.

Sometimes people just get out of the habit of going; perhaps they are divorced, remarried and feel unwelcome; maybe they had an argument with a priest.

Whatever the reason, this Mission will give you the chance to do something about your faith in God.

Who knows, you might decide to come to all of the Mission Services.

You are welcome to come along for an informal chat with one of the Mission priests.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available after all Masses and services throughout the week.

This Mission is an important time in the life of your Parish – please join us! You will make all the difference to our Mission Celebrations.

Why Bother?

A Mission is for all Catholics who want to deepen and develop their faith and for those searching for meaning in life.

It is also for any Christian who would like to come along, and for all those who want to find out more about Jesus Christ – you are invited!

What is a Parish Mission?

posted 18 May 2017, 03:19 by Martin Sylvester

Our Parish and School are about to experience a Parish Mission. This is a special event in the life of a Parish. The last Parish Mission in Long Eaton was in 1990.

A Mission is a great opportunity to slow down and look at your life.

It is also a time to look at your relationship with God and your relationship with those around you. A Mission is a reminder of the love God has for each one of us and for our world. It is also an invitation to work more closely with God and your local Parish community.

Parish Mission 2017 - 30 Sep to 6 Oct - You are invited! www.lecatholic.org.uk/mission

Parishioners who follow closely the minutes of our parish pastoral council will know that we've been aspiring to a parish mission, and our finance committee have set a budget so it can take place.

Now we know it's going to happen! Father Kieran from the Redemptorists has confirmed that our invitation has been accepted, and Redemptorist priests will lead our parish mission from 30 September to 6 October this year.

Please put the dates in your diary, and start praying for the success of our mission.

Fr Martin.
