Galatians 6:10
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

The Next Meeting

posted Aug 5, 2011, 5:37 PM by Chelsea Cullum

To make things clear, the next LD meeting is Friday, August 26th at 7PM. Everything from July is getting bumped to August, so if you're confuse, you should probably check the Meeting Page for more information. That is all.

Once Again...

posted Jun 20, 2011, 10:02 PM by Chelsea Cullum

It's LD week. Just a reminder.
Speakers: Brett and Laura
Reading: Finish The Me

That's it. See ya Friday.

Bible Study

posted Jun 6, 2011, 11:47 PM by Chelsea Cullum

Due to circumstances, there will be no meeting this Thursday for Bible Study. Until further notice, Bible Study will be held entirely online (meaning the Thursday meetings are cancelled). The Bible study reading begins this Wednesday (June 8th). You can see the reading schedule along with the discussion threads here. Feel free to jump in whenever.

Letters to God and Other Stuff

posted May 28, 2011, 8:40 PM by Chelsea Cullum

Just a quick reminder: we're watching Letters to God at Brett and Nicole's house tomorrow (Sunday, May 29th). Be there. 7:30PM. Yeah.

Also, there is a lovely meeting summary in the "Meetings" tab you should all check out. It's also on the forum in case you were wondering.

I said this last night, I really encourage everyone to check this site (the Home tab and Meeting tab, at least) every day. It'll take you 30 seconds (give or take, depending on your internet connection) if there is nothing there. However, I'm not going to post a link on Facebook every time I post something new here - it would kind of defeat the purpose, in my opinion. I'm going to try to add some stuff to the site, so be looking for that.

Leaving Different: May Edition

posted Apr 30, 2011, 8:19 PM by Chelsea Cullum

As a reminder for those who were there and for the information of those who were not, the May LD meeting is going to be quite different.

The first important note is that there will be no discussion on The Me I Want to Be. That means the discussion on the last section (Parts 5-7) will be delayed until the June meeting. However, there is a new section on the forum (click here) for suggestions on the next book we should read. If you have any you think would be good, post it there (along with a brief summary if you'd be so kind) and we'll vote on it at a later date - either at the May meeting or in a forum poll. Additionally, there will be no mini-sermons.

Instead of these two things, we'll be semi-planning out this summer. What each person needs to do is come up with a list. This list should include: things you need to work on devotionally (Bible reading, prayer, etc), spiritually (maintaining God-pleasing thoughts, working on patience, etc), real life practices (how you treat people, what you watch/listen to, etc), spiritual gifts you've been given and know you need to start using for God, or anything else the Spirit or your friends prompt you into working on this summer. Each person needs to bring their list to the meeting and from there we'll have discussion. Going through each person's list, we'll help them figure out practical ways to work on those things this summer (you might want to include on your list ways you've thought of working on it if you have any ideas). Whether it's taking up discipleship under another member of the group (especially for things like Bible reading) or a community service idea, we'll brainstorm a practical plan for each person to walk through this summer. The hope in this is that we'll actually live out the name of this group and leave this summer with each person having grown in his/her relationship with Christ.

LD Week

posted Apr 25, 2011, 4:29 PM by Chelsea Cullum

Just a reminder, there is LD this Friday (April 29th) at 7:00 PM at the abode of Mr. and Mrs. Varnadore. Juan and Young Breezy will be speaking and the discussion of The Me I Want to Be will be through Part 4. I'm looking very forward to it.

See you all on Friday.

LD Meeting 3

posted Mar 21, 2011, 2:02 PM by Chelsea Cullum

So we're once again in the home stretch to the next LD meeting. This Friday, March 25th, will be the next meeting. 7:00 PM at Nicole and Brett's house. A couple reminders:

Speakers: Young Breezy and Eric
The Me: Part 1-2

Also, the youth/young adult pastors at Skyline have been really emphasizing this lately, so I will mention it here as well. As many of you know, Breakout is on Wednesdays at Skyline. It really is a great small group (you can ask Juan, Eric, or Keone if you don't believe me). So if you're not doing anything Wednesdays at 6:30 PM, you should come. And those of us who do go (me included) should really try and bring other people we know to it. I, for one, think it's developing into something of real value. Anyway, this week is a little different because Pastor Paul is preaching. I'm excited for it.

Weekly Bible Studies

posted Mar 5, 2011, 9:40 PM by Chelsea Cullum

A new tab has been added for the Bible studies. Clicking on the tab will direct you to a general page for the Bible Studies (which does have important information). Clicking on one of the dropdown options will take you to a page with information regarding news and such about the individual day's Bible Studies (ie: if we're going through a certain book of the Bible, canceling a specific meeting, changing the location, etc). Check it out. I'm willing to start this Monday so long as I get at least one confirmation.

(Note: The content of the "Bible Studies" tabs are very incomplete. I did this in about ten minutes, so forgive missing information, typos, and the like. All that will get fixed as I have the time, but I wanted to get the core content up.)

Also, so people don't think I've forgotten, I'll set up something to organize a viewing of "Letters to God" in the next couple of days.

Meeting 2 Date Change

posted Feb 20, 2011, 10:29 PM by Chelsea Cullum

So, due to schedule conflicts, we're moving the next LD meeting to March 4th. There will be no meeting on January 25th. However, there will be one on March 25th (there will, therefore, be two meetings in March).

"The Me" Reading Schedule

posted Feb 16, 2011, 5:06 PM by Chelsea Cullum

So here is the reading schedule for The Me I Want to Be by John Ortberg. It will be posted under the "Devotional Book" tab if you need to reference it later. As previously stated, the first "official" discussion of the book will begin in March. However, it is encouraged that you use the forum as well (since we probably won't have time to discuss every aspect of the book at the meetings). You can access forum discussion for The Me here. Each month has approximately 80 pages of reading. I tried to keep it manageable, but at the same time not take half a year to finish it.

By March 25: Parts 1-2 (Chapters 1-6)
By April 29: Parts 3-4 (Chapters 7-14)
By May 27: Parts 5-7 (Chapters 15-22)

Also, Juan made a good suggestion regarding forum usernames. Check that out here.
