Notes:

  • -di becomes -ti after a hard consonant. Example: çektim = i pulled, sattım = i sold
  • with “to be" it becomes -(y)di:
    • when after a vowel, use -ydi (4) -- example: buradaydım = i was here
    • when after a consonant, use -di (4) -- example: ucuzdu = it was cheap
    • you can also use a separate word form: idi, which is seldom used-- example: burada idim, ucuz idi.

 

Stress:

  • In positive forms, the suffix is stressed.
  • In negative forms, the syllable just before the suffix -me (not) is stressed,
