Math and Scratch

You can integrate Scratch in the math curriculum in many ways.  When students work with Scratch programming, there are several tools that support math.  The stage area is an XY grid, which can be used to teach students about coordinates when they are moving their sprites around. The Pen and Move blocks allow students to make and learn about geometric shapes and their properties. The Operators blocks can be used to create quizzes related to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The Data blocks can be used to create variables and lists to store information and generate scores.
