Universal Programmer

Why do you need a Universal Programmer?

Memory programming of IC devices can be done in mainly two ways: On-board programming via the JTAG, DEBUG...etc. ports on the PCB system, and Off-board programming via independent socket.

Normally the former will be used during engineering developing phase, while the latter will be required during mass production. On-board programming allows you to rewrite the flash memory without re-soldering; however you need to do it on the PCB, which takes up so much space and time in comparison to programming a separate flash memory device.

This is why universal programmer is a must in nearly every electronic manufacturing factory. It is the only tool for you to mass-program data into a large amount of flash memory devices in a short period of time.

Some IC vendors, for example Microchip(https://www.microchip.com/), develops their own flash programming tools, but they are limited to only certain series of their product, while with universal programmers, you can not only program a variety of IC devices of various vendors but also get the future software update for new devices.

Also none of the IC vendors maintain automated handlers for mass production. That's why they will list the recommended reliable flash programming tool providers; for example LEAP universal programmers are recommended by Microchip(http://www.microchip.com/devtoolthirdparty/CompanyListing.aspx?compid=46d15f0b-95d3-47b8-8eca-c01e1ba3d14f)

LEAP Universal Programmer Series has been largely used in EMS factories and recommended by IC Vendors.
