HHD, GWB status

Approach of Autumn -- October 2012.

This page provides status reports on the Henry Hudson Drive (HHD) and the George Washington Bridge (GWB). There are numerous gates on the former, different sets of which are occasionally closed -- for maintenance, because of debris on the road (see Geology), seasonally or for other reasons. The sign located across from Palisades Interstate Park headquarters at the north end of the HHD has not proven a reliable indicator of road status.

Information posted here consists of rider reports, and should not be taken as a guarantee of future conditions. If you find that things have changed subsequent to the dates that appear below, feel free to leave a comment. Note that dates and/or times for HHD and GWB status reports may differ. We are always looking for collaborators to participate in the updating of these reports. Many wheels are better than just two...

HHD: As of Friday, Sept 13, 2013 at 6 p.m. all gates were open, and the riding was fine.

Official status of the HHD is provided on the park web site. (See sidebar at right.)

GWB: Two walkways traverse the bridge, on either side of the upper deck, and one or the other is generally open (6:00 a.m. to midnight). The north walkway involves stairs -- a total of about ten flights, counting both up and down. Find the walkway entrances here.

On Friday Sept 13, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. the south walkway was open.
