  • 3.3.21 Update
    Good evening all!

I wanted to write to let everyone know that Coach Stanley sent out an email earlier today with the link and code for marching band parents to purchase a ticket for Friday night's game. If you did not receive the link via, please contact me directly. Please also note that band families are only allotted one ticket per student member, not two tickets.

It is important that you do not share the link or code with anyone else. If you or someone you know is having trouble, please contact me directly for help, or for the link.

I look forward to seeing ALL students tomorrow and Friday after school for rehearsal, and our first home game in The Jungle!

Students: Keep an eye on the weather as projected lows below freezing Friday night. Bring your warm LC gear. You will be fed pizza on Friday before the game. Let's have a great end to the week!

    Be well,
    Mr. Sanchez

  • 2.28.21 Update

    Greetings all!

As we prepare for our next home game on Friday March 5th, I wanted to provide some changes and updates to this week’s marching band schedule. Please take a moment to read the following:

    • All rehearsals are open to both A and B day students this week. If students have a ride to and from the school on their “off” day of rehearsal, they are welcome to attend Tuesday or Thursday’s practice from 3:45 to 5:30. Students will not be penalized for not attending an “off” day rehearsal- we are simply giving ourselves the opportunity to rehearse with the full band 3 times this week.

    • We will be rehearsing outside, both as a mitigation strategy and to maximize our playing time. Be prepared for colder weather, and wind, as the sun starts to go down at the end of rehearsals.

    • 3/5 is our next home game, and we will be performing pregame, halftime, and during the game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.

    • All students will be provided with 2 slices of pizza, and we will eat together in the cafeteria (with social distancing measures in place.) Any student who has a dietary restriction should contact me ASAP (

    • Students will be allowed one parent to attend the game. Parents will be required to purchase a ticket ahead of time. More information on this ticketing process will be sent out soon.

    • Uniform for Friday’s game will LC gear again, with an emphasis on Green and Gold. Stay tuned for any updates to this.

I will send out another update later this week when we have more information. Be well. And as always, feel free to email with any questions or concerns.

  • 2/24 Announcement
    Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen,

It was wonderful to attend the football game last night, and make music together under the lights. Since the end of the game, I have been receiving numerous texts, emails, and in person messages about how excellent it was to have the Marching Lions at our first home game. I'm proud of what you all have been able to accomplish during a trying season, and am excited for our next two home games!

We will have our regularly scheduled rehearsal tomorrow after school. Stay tuned for special rehearsal announcements about next week as we prepare for our next home football game on 3/5.

    See A Day students tomorrow!

  • Marching Band Update - 2/21/21

    Greetings all!

Thanks for all your patience recently. I promise there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes, and we are working to make sure students get performance opportunities this season. As many of you may have seen or heard already, the first home football game has been rescheduled and relocated due to weather conditions over the past week. This is still being considered a “home” game for Louisa, and as such the band will have an opportunity to perform. If you haven’t seen the video, please watch it here along with reading the rest of the announcement:

Below are the details for Tuesday night’s game at Charlottesville High School:

For Tuesday’s game, only students in the marching band will be able to attend. As is detailed in Coach Stanley’s video, an opportunity for band parents to attend future home games has been established. More details on that for the next home game on March 5th.

B Day students: stay after school for rehearsal and bus loading.

A Day students: arrive at the band room at 4:00 PM

All students: Pack a meal to eat between the end of school and the game. Tuesday after school is our only rehearsal opportunity as a full band before the football game. Make sure you are preparing for our performance by practicing daily. We will not be in uniform for this game, so please make sure that you are “dressing out” with any and all applicable LC gear (past show shirts are fine.) We will travel to and from the band room via bus, and pickup time from the high school will be communicated once the game is over.

    Game Kickoff - 6:30 PM

Student Checklist - All students will need:

    • Your instruments/equipment, including flip folders

    • Sturdy shoes that you do not mind getting dirty (we may have to traverse some wet ground)

    • LC gear (Emphasis on Green and Gold, especially outerwear)

    • Winter weather gear. The high Tuesday is 58, but will approach 32 as the sun goes down in Charlottesville. Be prepared for a cold football game.

    • Mask (bring an extra in case you want to change it, or drop it in the mud)

More details will come in the hours and days leading up to Tuesday. Please feel free to reach out via email with any questions you may have, and thank you for understanding as we roll with the punches through this fluid situation.

  • 2.11.21 Rehearsal Update
    Greetings all!

All after school activities have been cancelled today, so we will not be having rehearsal. Students should ride the bus home, be picked up, or drive themselves home immediately after school today.

Be well, and travel safely this evening,
