Step On a Crack
During a state funeral for a beloved former First Lady in New York City's largest cathedral, the unthinkable occurs. Armed men disguised as monks seize the church and seal themselves inside, along with more than one hundred of the most powerful people in America. The captives include world leaders, actors, TV stars, athletes, and politicians, and the kidnappers are armed with enough C4 explosives to blow a crater in the middle of Manhattan.
NYPD officer Michael Bennett is pulled into the standoff as lead negotiator. Despite the escalating danger, Michael faces an even more terrifying crisis at home. His wife has been diagnosed with a devastating disease, and Michael faces the prospect of losing the love of his life and having to raise their ten children alone. With his own life teetering and the lives of thousands suddenly his responsibility, Michael struggles to diffuse the tense situation fast. Yet the kidnappers' moves are impossible to predict, and they block every attempt to break into the cathedralmost as if they are privy to their deliberations.

Leica M3 Original Half Case Mod
Leica M3 Original Half Case Mod
I bought myself another leather case for my double stroke Leica M3 camera. I went with an old original M3 ever ready case in average shape. The front cover (or nose) had some minor tears where it folded but surprisingly the rear plastic window that shows the ISO/ASA was intact. This often cracks and has cracked on my other case. Anyway the purpose was to remove the front part and use it as a half case. Without too much effort I managed to remove the brass rivet and avoided creating too many marks on the case. I’m happy with the result and I think it will work fine. Long term I think I will attempt to repair the front (or get my brother to do it) and replace the rivet hole with a press stud so I can have the best of both worlds, a half case when in use and a whole case when being stored.

Replicating a tattered focussing hood for a R.B. Graflex B 4x5 camera. As can be seen, the original hood was cracked beyond repair. The above image shows the surviving leather stiffening boards put back into the location where they belong. The pattern of the folds and stiffeners is plain to see. Note that for visual effect the brown inside of the boards is shown (the back has a thin canvas covering that held them in place); this means that the boards on the sides (the complex pattern of six parallelogram and triangle shapes) has been swapped over. © Dirk HR Spennemann 2010, All Rights Reserved
