  • Goals: 
    • Identify research challenges and potentials when applying learning processes to 
      • Routing (incl. traffic engineering, resiliency, stability, etc.), 
      • Network self-defense (incl. distributed intrusion/attack detection, distributed anomaly detection, etc.), 
      • Mobile/ad-hoc/sensor networks,
      • Control of optical networks.
    • Assess level of interest to initiate research activities on identified challenges
    • Determine if IRTF is the right place to conduct research work to address (some of) them
    • Estimate readiness for opening an IRTF Research Group by IETF 82
