The House Fire

A little over a week ago there was a house fire a few blocks from where I live.  Here's the story as it appeared in Penn State's student newspaper.  No one was killed, so I figured it was ok to take a few snapshots.  They're still investigating the cause of the fire, but they say it started on the back porch, possibly on a couch there.  Several witnesses reported hearing gunshots or fireworks.  You'd be suprised how common fireworks are in these parts.  They're actually legal to sell but illegal to fire.

Here's a picture from the back of the house.  Because there are multiple apartment units, fire codes state that there needs to be a fire escape, hence the stairs.

Here's the front of the house, situated on W. College Ave.  As you can see, the whole place has been gutted by the fire. You can see the outline of what used to be a front porch and overhang.

 Another look at the front.

This doesn't show much, but its a zoomed image of the front window.

Here's some of the debris that was left by the Firemen.

Finally, here's a glimse at the side of the house.
