Canoe Sailing

This is an old 16 foot fiberglass canoe that I got tired (lazy) of paddling around so I added a sail to it. I found the sail on eBay for $25.00 and the rest of the stuff at the local home improvement store. The mast is a wooden closet rod, the spars are aluminum tubing, and the mast thwart, lee-board thwart, lee-boards, and the rudder are all pine boards. The rudder and lee-boards kick up in shallow water.

I usually sail on St. Joseph Sound near Dunedin on Florida's west coast. It's probably the slowest sail boat in the area but it's still a lot of fun.
