Dolly Parton Imagination Library

posted Feb 28, 2014, 12:21 PM by Lawrence County Public Library

Due to necessary budget cuts from one of our grant providers, the Lawrence County Public Library regrets to inform our patrons that we must discontinue one of our popular programs that promotes early literacy.  March 2014 will be the last month the LCPL has funds to participate in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

Based on current participation, the projected cost to participate this fiscal year is $8,750.  The portion of the grant that will fund this program has been reduced to $2,500, leaving us $6,250 short.  The original grant was in the amount of $10,000 with $1,000 having been earmarked to the Summer Reading Program and another early literacy program.  While we deeply regret the need for this cut, it is our hope that we can secure grants that will allow us to participate in other early literacy programs.

Library staff have begun contacting participating patrons by phone and email.  A press release will be released next week.

The LCPL values all our grant partners and appreciates their continued funding.
