Tag Line: Lawrence County Health Ratings Make the Right Moves!
Every year, a special group of health providers, behavioral scientists and researchers track health statistics for every county in the nation. In the state of Ohio, for the last several years, the ratings listed Lawrence County last or next to last. We feel gratified to report that this year Lawrence County has moved up the scale six points! The health conditions in Lawrence County improved!
Dave Lucas, volunteer coordinator of the LawCo Health and Wellness Initiative remarked, "The dismal last place listing motivated me to create the non-profit Initiative in order to better address these circumstances. We charted a plan and kept with it. Naturally, we cannot take credit alone for this marvelous news. We give thanks for everyone in Lawrence County who has made a conscious effort to cooperate in the never ending task of importing our circumstances in Lawrence County." Dr. Lucas has served as coordinator for the non-profit effort for over four years.
The improvement of ranking order comes as a result of people working to provide more accessible health care, a cleaner, greener environment and fresh fruits and vegetables for dietary improvement. Programs for smoking cessation and pre-natal care have also helped to provide better statistical evidences for the county.
The Lawrence County Health and Wellness Initiative serves as a coordinating and collaborating effort throughout the county. The all volunteer organization conducts special events, educational seminars and health promotion campaigns annually.
