I am a Professor of Political Science at Kansas State University. I teach the introductory course in Political Thought and upper level courses such as Political Thought to the Sixteenth Century, Political Thought Since the 16th Century, Ideologies, Modern Political Thought, and the graduate Seminar in Political Thought.

In addition to teaching political thought, I direct the Certificate in the Study of Arts and Sciences Through Primary Texts, an undergraduate program in the College of Arts and Sciences (though we have some primary texts courses outside of Arts and Science too).

My recent research revolves around honor and modern liberalism, and I have a blog, Honor Today. I am also co-editor of a new book series: Honor and Obligation in Liberal Societies: Problems and Prospects, by Lexington Books.
