Projects

Past projects during my time at the Envision Center at Purdue University. More information about each project can be found by following the link to the homepage for each project.

• • TeraDRE The TeraDRE is a distributed rendering environment available via the TeraGrid and the Purdue campus grid. Additional work is underway to create a community portal usable by all without the need to apply for a TeraGrid allocation. TeraDRE has been released under an Open Source license. Information about where to obtain the source will soon be available on the TeraDRE website.

  • AGJuggler AGJuggler is a toolkit for creating shared virtual environments using the VRJuggler toolkit and the Access Grid. AGJuggler has been relased under an Open Source license and is available at AG TRAC

  • 4K Uncompressed Streaming The Purdue entry to the SC conference Bandwidth Challenge in both 2006 and 2007 was streaming of uncompressed 4K animations via a 10Gb network.

  • Catalyst Design The catalyst design project aims to improve chemical engineers' decision making by displaying chemical in a variety of 2D and 3D formats using a high resolution tiled wall.

  • Touching Sand The haptics devices housed in the Envision Center provide for unique types of interaction, such as this project that provides users with an experience that feels as though they are actually interacting with real sand.

  • My PhD dissertation is a classification system for travel in virtual environments, including a user experiment designed to validate selected portions of the classification system.

• • My Master's thesis included a user experiment showing the benefits of using VR for multivariate statistical data analysis. This work was part of the VRGobi statistics project (screenshot shown above, courtesy of VRAC). A slide of this work was accepted for inclusion in the Siggraph 1997 Technical Slide Set.

  • visualization application for the ISU Business College to visualize the Black-Scholes Option Pricing Formula
