Purpose:

The Laupāhoehoe Advisory Council (LAC) was formed in December 2010 per the HETF Cooperative Agreement: “the Parties will consult with scientists, managers, general citizens, and local community members concerning ongoing research activities. Existing State-sanctioned advisory councils may be utilized for this purpose.”


The purpose of the Laupāhoehoe Advisory Council (LAC) is to provide the Hawaii Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) and the US Forest Service (USFS) guidance and consultation relating to management, research, and other activities within the State lands that comprise the Hawai‘i Experimental Tropical Forest (HETF).

Mission:

Within our Hawaiian Culture establish community support in the development of strategies for the long-term management, protection and utilization of existing and potential forest resources.
