In covering long span areas, architects are always looking for novel and exciting roof forms. Tensile structures provide great opportunities to explore such forms. One major obstacle standing in the way, however, is that tensile structures have no rigid form of their own; they have to be shaped to the desired form. The creation of such form requires in depth knowledge and understanding of the stability and behavior of tensile structures. In this paper, the authors will present a process through which an interested and capable architect can indulge not only in utilizing these wonderful structures but also in creating new forms.
