ROPES COURSE
The high ropes course, run by Rock City Climbing at Canyon RV Park (formerly Featherly Regional Park), is Council-approved for Girl Scout participation.
A high ropes course is a series of "elements," or challenges, above the ground that must be solved in order to move on to the next element. Most elements are not dependent on physical strength but emphasize agility, balance, coordination, problem-solving, and creativity. Each participant is safely attached with a harness and is coached by trained and certified staff.
The cost is $350 for the first 19 people and $19 for each additional person. A $50 deposit is required to hold the requested date. If the group is more than about 20 people, they will split you into two groups so that you don't have to wait too long. There can be about 10 people on the ropes at a time, and each person takes 15-30 minutes.
There is no age requirement, but the person's hands must be able to reach 5 feet above the ground.

HORSEBACK RIDING
Update on May 27, 2016
There currently isn't an official list of approved horseback riding facilities. Leaders should contact Risk Management at coi@girlscoutsla.org prior to finalizing any plans. They will research the facility and let you know if they are approved for use. This should be done for each horseback riding outing. You shouldn't have to submit a "high risk" e-form unless instructed to do so by Risk Management.
ARCHERY
Pasadena Roving Archers welcomes Girl Scouts to the range on an appointment basis. Group classes are scheduled a minimum of 4 weeks in advance and run from 12:30pm to 2:00pm on Saturdays, by appointment only.
No participant in group classes can be under the age of 10 except by special arrangement. The maximum number of participants per group is 20. All equipment and instruction is provided.
To schedule a group session, contact PRA with your preferred date and two alternative dates. Once we have verified our schedule for availability, we will need a deposit to reserve your session.
Please do not bring your group to our regular Saturday morning instruction program. We have a very limited number of volunteer staff and are unable to accommodate the additional load of groups in the morning.
The PRA range is located in the Lower Arroyo Seco Park, west of Arroyo Boulevard, about one-half mile south of the Historic Colorado Street Bridge, and across from the Pasadena Casting Club and casting pond. Please allow extra time to find the range the first time you visit especially if you are visiting for the Saturday morning classes as we run out of parking space and equipment very quickly.
According to Jennifer Bridges, Pasadena Roving Archers is approved by Council for troop use, as long as you make sure to use a certified archery instructor when you go.

Aimee Jones has a copy of the COI (on behalf of Girl Scouts NorCal) that she received through our council rep if you need a copy.
Equipment is provided. All lessons are done on a first come first serve basis and no reservations are permitted. There is limited spaces in each group lesson. There is no dress code required and nothing you are required to bring. The recommended age for archery lessons is age 7 and up.
