Field Trips

Here are some ideas for free/cheap, easy, field trips. This came from talking to various leaders around town, so it's fairly specific to Chino Hills. American Museum of Ceramic Art - Pomona, Ca: American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona offers fun and educational workshops.

Apple Camp- Local Apple Stores: Kids ages 8 to 12 can expand their digital creativity through hands-on projects at Apple.

Botolla Orthodontics - Chino Hills, CA: Botolla orthodontics welcomes scout troops to their office for a visit involving dental care. This can be applied to a number of different health related badges.

Build A Bear - Brea or Ontario, CA: Gather the troops for a unique, hands-on experience — and be prepared for fun

California Citrus State Historic Park - Riverside CA: his park preserves some of the rapidly vanishing cultural landscape of the citrus industry and tells the story of this industry's role in the history and development of California. The Park offers a Girl Scout Badge Program for Daisies through Cadettes during the summer and fall.

California Pizza Kitchen- Chino Hills CA: A behind-the-scenes restaurant tour—including an interactive pizza-making demo.

Chino Hills State Park - Brea, CA: Campfires, school programs, nature hikes, Junior Rangers and educational talks are offered throughout the year.

Claremont Chef's Academy - Claremont, CA: Offers a Scout program that allows girls to work with a chef to prepare meals/desserts and work on earning age-level cooking badges.

Camp Surf/YMCA- San Diego, CA: Camp Surf's day camp is a caring environment that focuses on building friendships and confidence.

Color Me Mine - Chino Hills, CA: Create a pinch pot out of clay and earn an educational pottery/ceramic badge

Disney Afternoon Tea - Anaheim, CA: Experience an elegant afternoon complete with sweets, savories and a lovely selection of teas.

Federal Reserve Bank Tour-Los Angeles: For Juniors and above, the Girl Scout VIP Package lasts 75 minutes and your troop’s agenda will includes guided tour and financial workshop.

Fullerton Arboretum - Fullerton, CA: Classes offer a chance to learn about the plants, nature, history, health, culture and sustainability

Great Wolf Lodge- Buena Park, CA: Indoor water park and overnight lodging.

Goodwill Industries - Chino Hills, CA: 909-993-5014 (Leilani Gray will line up tours). Goodwill industries will handle groups of girls and explain their mission.

Jeseca’s Creations - Chino Hills, CA: Jeseca’s Creations offers a cake decoration workshop.

Living Coast Discovery Center Overnight - Chula Vista, CA: A full evening of fun, hands-on activities and animal encounters.

Logan's Candies - Ontario, CA: Provides a candy making demonstration around the holidays. Make sure to make your appointment early in the year!

Mt. SAC Planetarium - Walnut, CA: Visit the Planetarium and make a rocket.

Olivia's Dollhouse & Tea - Upland, CA: Call (909) 982-6060 to make reservation for a dress up tea party.

Panera Tour - Walnut, CA: A great way to introduce kids to kitchen essentials and the fundamentals of baking.

Pila Pantry Cookie Decoration - Norco, CA: Offers a variety of baking and decoration class for kids.

Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden - Claremont, CA: The largest botanic garden dedicated to California native plants, promoting botany, conservation and horticulture to inspire, inform and educate the public and scientific community about California's native flora.

Riley's Farm - Yucaipa, CA: Riley’s Farm is a working apple orchard and living history farm

Roar & Snore - San Diego, CA: Overnight experience at Wild Animal Park

Ropes Course - Anaheim, CA: Ropes course offers a series of supervised individual and group challenges that promote adventure, success, improved problem solving, teamwork, and the list goes on.

Sawdust Factory - Upland, Ca: Woodcraft painting place where everyone can experience painting and make unique woodcrafts.

Sea World Overnight - San Diego, CA: This camp is for Scouts in grades 2-8 with adult chaperones. A SeaWorld overnight outing provides fun and adventure while exploring nature up-close.

Sriracha Tour - Irwindale, Ca: Take a free 45 minute to an hour tour of the 650,000 square foot, state of the art facility and experience firsthand the making of the famous Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce.
