oTree Mini-Course - Department of Economics - February 2023
oTree Mini-Course - Department of Economics - February 2023
Description: This two-day mini-course will introduce students to oTree, the state-of-the-art, Python-based software package for designing and implementing surveys and experiments in the Social Sciences. Participants will learn how to properly install this software on their personal computers, the basic structure of the program, and how to design a simple graphical interface for collecting data. Along the way, participants will also be introduced to the basics of web programming, procedures for sharing or testing your interface, and various troubleshooting strategies. This learning will be mostly hands-on and we will work through these topics together with many live-coding examples. No previous experience with Python or other programming languages is necessary, just an open-mind and LOTS of patience.
Who is this for? Graduate students and faculty interested in implementing survey and experimental methods for research in the Social Sciences.
