Hello and welcome to Languages 101! My name is Ravariel Aiwince, I'm a Hufflepuff Student Teacher and I look forward to having you in my class this term.

In this class you will be learning about different aspects of language, including its importance, about choosing which languages to learn, and also about linguistics. We will also be covering ways to learn a language and how knowledge of other languages - even if they are very different from the one you are currently learning - can help with learning a new language.

The class was originally put together by the amazingly talented Prof. Amy Lupin, who has kindly offered me to take it over for her. She got the idea for teaching it when she spent some time learning Italian some years ago and found that although it certainly had its challenges, it was a very rewarding experience. I myself am a great language enthusiast and delight in learning both languages themselves and all sorts of interesting facts about them and the connections between them. Through this class, I hope that you will be able to share in that enthusiasm.

Should you have any queries, feel free to send an e-mail to hol.languages@gmail.com. Should you rely on assistive technology or have any other needs that should be taken into account, please contact me via the same e-mail and we can discuss other options for certain parts of the assignments.

Hope you have a great term!
