Lane Tech truly offers a truly unique, challenging, and meaningful science curriculum.  Our teachers are science content experts, which proves necessary for ensuring our students are provided with the best science education learning experience possible.  With such a talented staff, we are able to offer over 20 electives and all Collegeboard Advanced Placement science courses. Additionally, to support our teachers and learners in the classroom, we have recently added a STEM wing to our school, complete with an Aquaponics lab, multipurpose laboratory space, lecture rooms, and computer lab stations.  We encourage you to browse through our website to learn more about our science department. Lane Tech Science in Action!

Science Clubs and Events:

As many of you know, there is a strong gender gap in STEM-related fields. GEMS is a program that builds capacity in young women entering the fields of math, science, and engineering. We would like to help educate our girls on how to be successful in these fields through field trips, guest-speakers, research with the University of Illinois at Chicago, and service learning efforts.

Aquaponics is the combination of aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (the soilless cultivation of plants in water) that grows fish and plants together in one integrated system.     The Aquaponics laboratory is located in the new STEM wing, where Aquaponics and Horticulture classes are able to conduct challenging and meaningful experiments.
