Mental Health Services

MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
Students’ unmet mental health needs can be a significant barrier to student academic, personal-social and career development; and can even compromise school safety.

Professional school counselors are trained to recognize and respond to student mental health crises and needs, and to address these barriers to student success by offering education, prevention, and crisis and short-term intervention until the student is connected with available community resources. School counselors do not provide long-term therapy to address psychological disorders, but often refer students to outside organizations for this service. Lists of these local organizations are available in the following categories: Counseling/Therapy, Family Counseling, Hospitals, LGBTQ, and Substance Abuse.
