Committee List

A few words from the clubs committee, about their roles. If you have any Questions. Please feel free to contact us

President: Mark Humphrey

Treasurer: Alan Humphrey

After joining the Lanchester MC back in the late 90's, I took a role on the committee in 2009 as meets officer and continued in that position for 4 years. Due to our policy of keeping the committee roles refreshed at least every 4 years, I now have handed the meets reign over.

As a regular on club meets, I still wished to be involved with the running of the club and as such was happy to accept the nomination for president to oversee the running of the club for this my 3rd term, and to assist in taking the club forward with  the new team.

my role is to act as an ambassador for the club. I am also responsible for the co-ordination and running of the club, and reporting to the membership at the club's AGM. The president normally presides at the chairs meetings of the committee of the club.

When I am not busy cultivating my little piece of the countryside, I can be found on quite a few meets out in the mountains and taking part in the odd beer of an evening.

Meets Officer and Youth Liaison: Andy Simmons

This is my first year in the Lanch as well as a committee member. It's my job to arrange the meets calendar so that we have trips to as many different and exciting places as possible, and to transform the club's ideas for the year's bigger trips into bookings. I have also taken on the role of the clubs youth officer, ensuring that any young people on our trips are both safe and happy.

I will be working closely with the Coventry University Mountaineering society execs to ensure that both clubs calendars do not interfere with each other allowing members from either club to book onto meets from the other club. A number of very exciting meets are in the pipe work and will present excellent opportunities for both beginner and seasoned expert.

If you have any ideas for club meets or if you fancy organising a meet of your own please get in touch, I would love to here from you! Your ideas and wants are essential to creating fun and exciting meets that attract maximum attendance.

When I’ve not got my head in the meets diary I can be found climbing or bouldering, outdoors if the weather is good or indoors if not. I also can be seen walking out and about or socialising with the club members

Secretary: Owen Williams

I have been a member of the Lanch for a couple of years; this is my first year on the committee. I am Responsible for collating and archiving the club records e.g. the club newsletter the Loudhailer, Agendas and Minutes from the Committee Meetings, meet attendance lists and route cards. Not only does this provide a vital record of events but it is also a great insight into our clubs history.

Membership Officer, Distribution Officer & Cheese Officer: Richard Cooper

I am the Cheese Development Officer for Lanchester Mountaineering Club. The Cheese Development Officer is responsible for the provision of the tools for the management of a cheesing hour on meets.

A key part of the role, which I need your help with, is to bring a small amount of cheese / crackers / chutney to a meet for communal tasting and sharing with other club members.

Webmaster: Ian Hulme

This is my first year as a member of the "Lanch" and looking forward to getting more involved.

When I'm not websiting, I can be found climbing indoors and out in and around the Cheshire area.

As Web master I control our webpage and look after our Facebook Group where you can find more information about the club.

Membership to Lanch also gives access to the Coventry University Mountaineering Society (C.U.M.S.) trips and events – the club from which the founders of the 'Lanch' originated.

In this role and as President of CUMS, my job is to keep the Lanch informed of these CUMS trips, and equally, to keep us students informed of Lanch meets

Ordinary Member: Elwyn Summers

This is my fourth year as a member of the Lanchester Mountaineering Club or “Lanch”. When I am not ticking of Nuttalls, Hewitts or Wainwrights I can be found scrambling and on occasion I dapple in a bit of caving and outdoor climbing.

The job of the Distribution Officer is to collate the club's various bits of info, and making sure that it's sent to all the members in a timely fashion, without overloading the members with extraneous junk mailings. I also update the membership list which I use to send out the club mailings and I’m also the BMC club contact

This year I have taken on the Loudhailer editor role, I am always looking out for contributions, however small! If you have an idea for an article please do get in touch!
