Fall Meeting 2016

The fall meeting of the LCBA will be held November 1, 2016, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Ferguson Falls Community Hall. See the October 2016 Buzzette below for all the details.

The annual Beekeeping Field Day, hosted jointly by the Lanark County Beekeepers' Association (LCBA) and the Eastern Ontario Beekeepers' Association (EOBA), will be held on August 21, 2016, 10:00a.m.-3:00p.m., at Paul Lacelle's Apiary, 126 Spruce Drive, Carleton Place.
Everyone is welcome; new members can join either club and pay their membership dues at the field day.  Please see the attached newsletter (the Buzzette) for all the details.

Spring 2016 Meeting

The spring 2016 meeting of the LCBA will be held April 20, 7:00 p.m., at the Beckwith Community Centre, 1702 9th Line, Beckwith. Phil Laflamme will give a talk on starting hives from nucs and from splits. Dan Borges from the Tech Transfer team, and Paul Lacelle on behalf of the OBA, will be speaking about the small hive beetle. More details will follow in the Buzzette.

Notice of Workshop

Central Ontario Beekeepers is partnering with Farms at Work and Fleming College to present a 3-day workshop with Michael Bush on Treatment-Free Beekeeping from April 15 to 17, 2016.

2016 Winter Meeting

The winter LCBA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 23, at 7:00 p.m. at the Ferguson Falls' Community Hall. 
Paul Waenink will be talking about how he winters his bees, and Gordon Kubanek will share his experience with top-bar hives.

2015 Summer Field Day for Beekeepers in Eastern Ontario

Sunday, August 23/15 Starting at 9:30am
At Paul Lacelle's Apiary
Eastern Ontario and Lanark County Beekeepers Associations will be hosting the field day at Paul Lacelle's home on Spruce Drive off Concession 5A, Mississippi Mills near Carleton Place.
9:30am - 10:00am - Registration
10:00am - 10:10am - Intro by Paul Lacelle
10:10am - 11:00am - Paul Kozacs, Provincial Apiarist
11:00am - 11:30am - Workshop
11:30am - 12:00 noon - Workshop
12:00 noon - 1:00pm - Lunch
1:00pm - 1:30pm - Workshop
1:30pm - 2:00pm - Workshop
2:00pm - 3:00pm - Networking, drawing door prizes and 50/50 ($5 arm's length tickets)
3:00pm - Clean-up

Suggested items to carry for this Pot Luck Event:
- your favorite dish to be shared with other beekeepers
- chair
- cup, glass, plate, knives, forks, and spoons
... and your beekeeping gears (suit, veil, smoker, gloves)

New Beekeeping Supply Store for the Hobby Beekeeper

Paul Lacelle has recently opened a "new" beekeeping supply store geared primarily to hobby beekeeper with very reasonable pricing.
Paul will be selling "Ontario Inspected Nucs" for the 2015 season. Order early to get your order filled.

Eastern Ontario Beekeepers Association has invited our Association to their Spring meeting..... 13-April-2015-St.Richards Church- 7:00pm-10:00. Melanie Kempers of the Tech. Transfer Team will be doing a presentation- topic to be announced.

2015 Winter Meeting

This meeting will not take place on Feb 26th as originally planned.
Keep an eye out for announcement when we can reschedule.

Doug McRory, former provincial apiarist, will 
give a talk on his world trips to apiaries and on making nucs. 
When: postponed!
Where: don't know yet - will send out the announcement when I book a hall.
