Writing

We are working on our persuasive advertising unit.  This involves a review of the parts of complete sentences, fixing fragments and run-ons using the textbook.  Students will work collaboratively with their peers to complete two projects. 
 
The first, an Advertising Scrapbook, will be completed with a partner.  This project requires students to identify and correctly label ads that use the various advertising techniques.  Students will receive two grades for this project: a writing/project grade for the scrapbook itself, and a participation grade.    Please note: the Ad Scrapbook is DUE: Wednesday, June 1st!
 
The second, a Soda Project, will be completed in small groups.  This project requires students to apply at least one of the advertising techniques to "sell" a beverage to the class.  Students must demonstrate knowledge of the advertising techniques and the grammar to write and fix at least one slogan.  The group that most successfully "sells" their beverage to class, thus garnering the most votes will win a pizza party. Students will receive two grades for this project: a writing/project grade for the product, planning, & presentation, and a participation grade.   
Please note: the Soda Project is DUE: Friday, June 10th!
