Welcome to the CHS Laker Track & Field Team! We are very excited that you have chosen to join. Parents and athletes, please feel free to contact us at any time with questions or concerns.

TEAM INFORMATION:  We will use athlete’s school emails and parent's contact emails to communicate.  The CHS website under 'Athletics' has a copy of the meet schedule. ‘Related websites’ has a Track & Field page with additional information and record history.  PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO CHERYLALEY@AOL.COM TO RECEIVE TEAM INFORMATION and EMAILS.

‘’ is our primary site for meet entries, results, pictures and athlete/team data. Search ‘Colchester HS Track & Field’.

TEAM PARENTS:  Every HS team needs a team parent or two.  It is not a big time commitment. . Please let me know if you would like more details and/or to volunteer your time!

PRACTICES:  M-F 2:45- 4:30. Meet on the Track bleachers at 2:45 every afternoon, ready to go.  Please wear weather appropriate running clothes/active wear.

PACK A BAG WITH:  water bottle, supportive running shoes, socks, spikes, warm-ups, jacket, shorts, hat, mittens, raincoat, shirt. You may leave your bags by the gym stairway.

**If you need to miss a practice, please let your coach know ahead of time. Missing practice without an excuse (ie not telling your coach) is considered unexcused. After three unexcused absences we will meet with parents and athlete to discuss your future on the team. Athletes who miss practice without an excuse will be able to travel to the next meet with the team, but not compete.

RUNNING SHOES/ TRACK SPIKES:  A good pair of running shoes and track spikes are important!  Skirack and New Balance offer excellent assistance in helping to choose a pair that fit correctly. Please avoid 'minimalist' running shoes at practice.  Track spikes are to have no more than 3/16” spike showing to meet HS regulations.  Please wear running shoes to practices (bring spikes). Have a backup set of spikes. NEW BALANCE FIT DAY - TUESDAY, MARCH 20TH IMMEDIATELY AFTER PRACTICE

We have two home meets this year- April 9th, May 7th. They each require many volunteers in order to run smoothly. Please mark your calendars. We could use everyone’s help! Parents, grandparents, siblings…all welcome!! No experience necessary – we will train! They are lots of fun and can be a great way to meet some other families and learn more about Track and Field.

**Athletes please plan to stay until the end of all meets to cheer on your teammates. If you have a conflict, please make arrangements with your coach ahead of time.

Meets are typically 3-4 hours long. Invitationals can be an all day event. Athletes may compete in a maximum of 4 events per meet. We will take buses to and from the venues, unless otherwise notified. If you are taking your athlete home after his/her events are over, please sign them out on the 'Parent Sign-out' clipboard.  I try to keep it by my bag at meets. This way we know who is coming home on the bus!

PAPERWORK: Please return forms on the first day of practice.  Athletes are required to have a physical every two years. Please be sure to schedule one if your child is due.  Please give the CHS nurse a call if you have any questions.

VARSITY LETTERS:  Athletes who achieve Div. 1 qualifying standards and compete in the VT T & F State meet earn a varsity letter or pin.
