Using a wedding facility in the Lakes to take marriage vows is increasingly popular, as this mini wilderness within north-western England has romantic locations aplenty to choose from, including lakes, fells, waterfalls and tarns, not to mention idyllic country houses, manors and a castle or two. This makes a country house wedding within the Lake District a perfect setting for a wedding.

A Wedding in the Lake District

Few can argue that the Lakes in Cumbria is a great place to host a wedding. However, practical issues when selecting the most suitable wedding venue within the Lake District require consideration, to ensure the wedding goes smoothly and as desired.
Some locations within the Lakes are accessible only by narrow country roads. Places such as Borrowdale, Eskdale and Buttermere require extra journey time, particularly during a winter or spring wedding, when snow is likely to add time to the journey.
Similarly, parking facilities must be adequate to accommodate wedding cars and people carriers. The Langdale Chase Hotel on the shores of Windermere or Muncaster Castle in the Western Lake District, cater for the grander affair having larger facilities.
However, there are plenty of wedding venues within the Lakes for an intimate wedding, such as Eskdale’s Bower House Inn.
The views from the venue, which is the purpose of having a Lake District wedding, after all. A hotel with grand views across Borrowdale, Elterwater or Windermere will make the wedding extra special, particularly the wedding photographs.

Hosting the wedding and the reception at the same venue would take the hassle out of moving guests from one place to another.
