Bistro Update – July 2010

The La Ermita Owners Advisory Committee are delighted to inform owners and visitors that the La Ermita Bistro has recently been leased to a third party operation, an organisation led by Rafael Carrion. Rafael has over 25 years experience on the Costa del Sol in the restaurant and entertainment business and is highly regarded throughout the Andalusian region for his excellent work within the food and beverage sector. His knowledge of consumer demand trends, the sourcing of high quality produce from local suppliers and the provision of a first class customer service are all attributes that Rafael and his team will bring to the Macdonalds La Ermita resort.

Most recently Rafael celebrated success as Managing Director of the La Pesquera chain of restaurants, widely known as one of the finest fish restaurant chains in Spain with outlets throughout Andalucia and Madrid. La Pesquera also had other in house brands including Steak and Italian brands which provided a varied range of styles for customers.

Rafael’s newest venture comprises five establishments across the coast, one of which is the food and beverage operation at the Macdonald Dona Lola resort. Rafael’s team at La Ermita will be totally dedicated to providing owners with the highest quality food and service, and eagerly await the chance to demonstrate their skills.

We as owners have all been pressing our management company, Macdonald Resorts, to improve the quality and service that was being provided by the in house food and beverage operation. The vehicle for this improvement has now been provided by Macdonald Resorts and it is up to all owners and visitors to ensure that this venture is successful by giving Rafael and his team our full support and patronage.

The Owners Advisory Committee are assured that in the coming months menus and new ideas will develop, particularly if owners and guests take full advantage of Rafael’s operation.

La Ermita receives award from Interval International

Following the presentation of the award of Interval International Select Resort, Macdonald Resorts issued the following press release.

LA ERMITA selected for prestigious award

Mijas, Spain

April 2009

In today’s highly competitive world, only the very best reach the top of their field. La Ermita, although the smallest of Macdonald’s Spanish resorts, has attained the highly coveted status of an Interval International Select Resort.

In order to become affiliated to Interval’s network of resorts, certain criteria must be met and if a resort goes above and beyond the standards required, they may be chosen for the Select Resorts award. La Ermita has achieved just this.

What does it mean to be named as a Select Resort? Not only does the resort need to meet high standards in terms of quality of apartments, facilities, grounds and location, but they also need to provide an ambience which is akin to a home away from home. La Ermita has achieved this thanks to a dedicated team of professionals who provide first class service.

Hospitality, friendliness and warmth are the cornerstones of La Ermita’s success and being chosen for the Select Resort award is confirmation of the Macdonald catchphrase “we care the most”.

Police action in Spain – your help is needed

Towards the end of January, the Spanish police raided the offices of Global Vacations Limited, a marketing company selling Club Class Concierge holiday club membership, arresting sixteen people on suspicion of fraud.

Victims of this alleged fraud will have been approached by resale company ETOO telling them that a buyer had been found for their points or week. They would have been told that the transaction would have to be concluded in person in Malaga. Once there the owners were met by Global Vacations Limited representatives who try to sell them Club Class Concierge membership. This may well have been alongside a cash-back offer through CashBack Europe Plc.

To assist the authorities in Spain with their investigations, evidence is now required from timeshare owners. A case can only be built up if sufficient evidence is provided!

If you have been affected by this scam or can help in any way, evidence should be sent to the complainant’s local European Consumer Centre, details of which can be found on the ECC website

Photocopies of all documents, a brief statement providing details about their case and photocopies of proof of payments made should be provided.

UK based consumers should send their complaints to:
