from Coach Bress

March 29, 2016

Although the High School season was over, I did manage to enjoy some basketball last week.  First, I joined nearly 300 guests at the Al Carino Girls Basketball Club of South Jersey Awards Banquet which honored the Player of the Year (Mary Gedaka of Gloucester Catholic), the Coach of the Year (John Senft of Highland) as well as All-South Jersey and All-Group players.  It was an excellent evening and I always enjoy catching up with coaching friends and saying goodbye to graduating players.
There is at least one change to the coaching roster of the TCC Royal Division as Kingsway Coach Karyn Pickard announced her retirement.  Following a stellar career that spanned several different stints with the Lady Dragons over more than 20 years, "KP" will definitely be missed in the Conference and in South Jersey.

Coach Wagner and I enjoyed excellent seats at the NCAA Men's East Regional played at the Wells Fargo Center.  A very talented team from North Carolina emerged as the East representative to the Final Four and we enjoyed not only the games on Friday and Sunday but the day-long practice session where we saw all four teams and their Tournament preparation.

    Good Luck Spring Sports!

    Go LPB!

The entire South Jersey sports community has lost a great man as Coach Bob "Blade" Burrough passed away due to complications from recent surgery.  Following a very successful teaching and coaching career at Deptford, Coach "B" became a fixture at Clearview and had been the freshman coach for the Lady Pioneers since the 2004-05 season.  The Clearview Girls Basketball Family sends the most sincere condolences to his wife Darlene, daughter Jaime, son Robert and grandchildren Nolan, Cecelia, Kara and Maggie.  We promise to "pay it forward" and will honor his memory during the 2015-16 season.
