Clearview Lady Pioneers Basketball 2016-17

DRAGONS BREATHE 4th QUARTER FIRE
Lawry "And One" Seals 56-51 Kingsway Victory

1/13/17 - Kingsway senior Deja Lawry converted an old fashioned 3 point play with less than 30 seconds left in the game and the Lady Dragons roared back from a 48-44 deficit to defeat Clearview in a TCC Royal Division first place showdown at Hank Ledden Gym. Clearview senior guard Jordan Harbaugh tied the game at 51 on a three point play of her own with just under a minute remaining, but following a timeout, Kingsway patiently worked the ball and found Lawry isolated in the low post for the game deciding basket and free throw.  Lady Pioneers junior guard Julia Michael had a career high 27 points (with a career high six 3 point baskets) to lead Clearview, but it was the Lady Dragons balanced attack featuring 15 points from both Lawry and Kaiya Jenkins and 13 points from Becca Blasczcyk that keyed the victory. Kingsway remains undefeated in Royal Division play at 6-0 (8-2 overall) as Clearview suffers its first TCC loss and falls to 4-1 (9-2 overall). Click HERE for the box score.

The Lady PIoneers hit the road on Tuesday for a 7:00pm matchup with Highland and return to The Hank on Thursday for a showdown with Gloucester Catholic.

A SCOOP OF HOOPS
from Coach Bress

January 15, 2017

Today's "Scoop" is going to focus on FAMILY as I enjoyed two very special moments over the past couple of days.

First of all, former Lady Pioneer player Lori Juhring was at The Hank on Friday with her son Dane.  Back in the day (when she was Lori Wileczek), Lori she was the point guard on my first team (2007-08) that qualified for the NJSIAA Playoffs.  She went on have a wonderful career at Eastern University as a player and as an assistant coach and then married Trevor Juhring and they are now the parents of future New York Knicks point guard Dane.

After scouting on Saturday, I celebrated my grandson Logan's 5th birthday.  Time has sure flown by; I can remember being at The Hank at practice (on Martin Luther King Day in 2012) when my son Michael called to tell me that my daughter in law Michelle was on her way to the hospital.

Last but not least, I cannot say how proud I am of our Lady Pioneers and their effort against Kingsway.  The back of our t-shirts read, "ACCEPT NO EXCUSES ... EXPECT GREAT RESULTS" and despite missing one of our key players, the girls truly rose to the occasion and gave the Lady Dragons a battle they probably did not expect.  We are disappointed but not discouraged and we will be back in the gym on Monday continuing to work hard!

    Go LPB!

Coach Bress
