Overtime Heartbreak for Clearview
Toms River North Storms Back in Final 2 Minutes and Earns 65-57 Playoff Win

3/2/15 - Two of Ashley Tutzauer's game high 25 points found the bottom of the net at the end of regulation, and #11 seed Toms River North scored the first four overtime points and never looked back, upsetting the #6 seed Lady Pioneers in the first round of the NJSIAA Group IV South playoffs.  With the teams tied at halftime, the Lady Pioneers opened up a double digit lead in the third period, and led by 8 with 2 minutes remaining in the game behind a 23 point effort from freshman forwad Elaina Hansen.  The Mariners tied the game at 53 but with 16 seconds left, senior guard Liz Kramer (10 points) was fouled and made both shots to put Clearview up by 2, setting stage for Tutzauer's heroics.  Chrissy Ribaudo (14) and Sam Farley (12) combined for 26 points for TR North, while senior Ali Dononue scored 8 in her Clearview finale.  Click HERE for the box score.

Toms River North moves on to meet Cherokee in the Group IV South 2nd Round on Wednesday at Cherokee.

"A Scoop Of Hoops"
from Coach Bress
March 5, 2015

The snow is falling once again; although it was just rain when most of us got the call (or email) cancelling school today, it looks like it was a good call.  I am using the time to catch up on my statistics for the season, and while we are all disappointed at the sudden end to the 2014-15 season, I am choosing to focus on the positive rather than the negative.

The team more than doubled its win total (17 vs. 8) and earned the second best regular season record in my 11 years as a coach.  The Lady Pioneers scored 4 more points per game, but gave up more than 12 points LESS per game; those that know me well know that I am the most proud of that stat!  The team produced more assists, less turnovers and more rebounds than in 2013-14.

As far as post season recognition, Liz Kramer was chosen as a FIRST TEAM ALL STAR for the Tri-County Royal Division.  Elaina Hansen and Jordan Harbaugh earned SECOND TEAM status, and Hannah Quast was an HONORABLE MENTION selection.  Liz will also play in both the Al Carino Girls Basketball Club Senior All Star Game and the NJSCA North/South Senior All Star Game.  Information on location and game times will be posted shortly.

We will definitely miss our graduating senior players, but I am encouraged by the performance of our underclassmen.  We have a very solid nucleus of players returning and with the success of the 2014-15 Lady Pioneers providing a blueprint, I can not wait for the 2015-16 edition to take the floor ... Acccording to my countdown clock, only 270 more days!
