Dear Friends,

This year's theme for our Diocesan Convention which concluded last Sunday was 'Challenges and Revelations'.

The most forceful challenge that faces humanity today is the new culture of individualism. This happens within us not because of our deliberately planned strategy but as a natural tendency of being part of today's culture. That is not an excuse for us to so easily fall prey to the value systems of today which glorify an individual and an individual's pursuits.

In Romans 12 St. Paul says that we should not unthinkingly 'conform' to this world but rather renew ourselves in such a way that we can continuously and consistently resist such temptations.

Let us remember that it is God's revelations that help us face the world and deal with its challenges. God reveals himself to us through nature, through prophets and even through friends; but let us also remember that God's greatest revelation was in and through Jesus Christ and the Cross on which he died for us. And it is the Cross which helps us face the world and its challenges.

May God help each one of us face the challenges of today's world and be responsive to God's revelations on a daily basis.

I just finished my teaching responsibility at K.U.T. Seminary, Trivandrum and am in the process of evaluating the answer scripts. It was a very meaningful experience. The principal and students send their greetings to you all.

Through Biji I understand that our congregation's activities have gone on very well so far. Thank you very much for your support and help. Susan and I are looking forward to being there soon.

With warm regards,

Yours in Christ,

George Oommenachen
