News article from  Albany   Times Dec. 15, 1858  "Counterfeiter Arrested—A German named John Rinehuls, has been arrested in  Hornellsville and taken to Buffalo, where he was examined yesterday before the U. S. Commissioner, on a  charge of passing counterfeit  coins. He was fully committed. The counterfeits were half and quarter dollars  and  half eagles, they were fully  traced to him.

Generation V

Frank Rinehuls   Frank's first wife was Sarah Louger daughter of Charles Louger. She died September 6th from Diphtheria.- death announcement from Elk County Advocate September 16, 1880. She was only married 1 year - no children with Frank). Frank married Mina Raywinkle (Mina was the daughter of Frederick and Eliza Raywinkle). After Mina died, he married Rebecca Wiltsie (b- abt 1871 Westport, PA). After Franks death, Rebecca moved to Buffalo, NY. She was found in the streets of Buffalo with a fractured skull and died at a Buffalo Hospital on January 26, 1935.

• Cecil Clifton Rinehuls b- Apr. 22,  1890, d-Feb. 15,  1913 aged 22, a brakeman on the Allegheny and Western railroad, was instantly killed at 10:28 Saturday morning at Queen Junction, when he was knocked off the top of a freight car and under the wheels of his train. His skull was fractured and the body was crushed across the chest.

 Fredrick Raywinkle   b- March 1, 1834 in Germany, m-Eliza Smith b-abt 1843. Arrived in USA in 1858, resided in Fishkill, NY in 1860 census. He was mustered into service (Civil War) 9/2/1864. Taken prisoner 11/17/1864-3/2/1865 on Picket line defenses of Bermuda 100. He was confined to Richmond, Virginia then to North Carolina.  He was very sick prior to his discharge with typhoid fever. Discharged by general order 7/6/1865. He was a private in the 211 Regiment PA Volunteers Company B.   He was 5'8" tall with black hair and dark eyes.  He remarried Maria Caroline Miller in Ripley Missouri on 7/13/1889. Elk County PA 1860 census. Marie died 7/3/1904 at the age of 68 and is buried in the Missoula Cemetery, Montana. Most of the family moved from Pennsylvania west to Missouri except for Mina.  Frederick Raywinkle died 3/9/1891 in Missouri. William, the oldest son, took guardianship of the minor children. All of the children were from his first marriage.
