Typically there will be a maximum limit of 75 adult HUNTERS each day.* Bring your own chair, beverages and a snack to share.
Event Rules:
No alcoholic beverages other than those at the sampling table provided by Straub Beer! Any prizes that consist of alcoholic beverages will not be awarded to anyone under the age of 21 and cannot be opened or consumed during the hunt.
Smoking is permitted but not on the hunt fields. Butts must be disposed of properly.
Parents or guardians are responsible for their children. They must be supervised at all times.
Hunt Rules:
Hunters must hunt alone, no teams are allowed on the fields unless it is a scheduled team event or pre-approved due to a disability.
No cash refunds, due to the purchase of coins and prizes leading up to the weekend’s events
NO PULSE DETECTORS
Headphones or earbuds are required for events
No over-sized or Large Coils (W.O.T. Coils, Bigfoot Coils).
Only registered people can hunt in event
No one will be permitted in hunt area without a detector, headphones and/or hunt ID
Please bring proper clothing for the weather
These events will take place on the scheduled days - RAIN OR SHINE
All targets will be no more than four (4”) inches deep
Anyone not following responsible metal detecting practice’s such as covering holes, will be disqualified and asked to leave -without a refund.
Remove all trash from the field
No smoking is permitted on the hunt fields
Do not leave large rocks at the surface
Children must be accompanied by an adult
All DDPA Token items will be uniquely identified differently every year. Only tokens for the current hunt year will be valid and worthy of a prize. This was deemed necessarily due to "cheaters' that were stamping and planting their own tokens.
Rules for Campers:
Camping space is limited and needs to be prearranged ahead of time.
A waiver will need to be signed and donation provided to DDPA for the Cameron County Fair before you park your camper or set up your tent.
This is a family event so you must keep the noise down after dark. You are responsible for your children at all times, alcoholic beverages may be consumed within your tent or camping area - being intoxicated is NOT acceptable.
Be respectful of other camper- keep the noise down.
Metal detecting the fairground hunt fields is prohibited other than during the hunt event . There may be areas where it is permitted, ask DDPA admins for location of these permissible locations. Anyone caught metal detecting on hunt locations will be ask to leave the hunt, with no refund.
Please place all garbage in designated dumpsters. Wild animals, including bear, are in the area. If you don't have an understanding of camping in bear country, ask.
Any dogs need to have approval so that we know how many people are bringing dogs. Dogs are welcome, but should be kept on leashes. No excessive barking allowed. Pets must be walked by a responsible person to pick up after them immediately. Owners are responsible for their dogs- if your dog does't get along with other dogs or children then it should not come to this event.
Electric service is limited to a few locations.
There is no sewage or water connections available.
At the end of your stay make sure your area is clean or you will not be able to camp at the next event.
