Welcome to BIo-Molecular & bio-Integrated Material (BIMIL) Laboratory 
                                                   (생분자 공학 및 바이오융합 재료 실험실)

Our biomolecular engineering & biointegrated material research focuses on  1) generation of advanced functional biointegrated materials including therapeutic proteins and biocatalysts to improve human health and to secure sustainable energy and 2) design of contact lenses as a ocular drug delivery vehicle

May 2017 :
Professor Kwon, Byungseop Yang's manuscript titled as "Bioconjugation and active site design of enzymes using non-natural amino acids" was accepted to Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research.

Kwon lab opened at GIST in South Korea.

Kwon lab is moving to Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) in South Korea. Prof. Kwon became an Associate Professor of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at GIST.

November 2010:
Jacob Irwin, a graduate student of Chemical Engineering at UVa (BS at Univ. Arkansas), joined the Kwon group.

September 2010:
Virginia international Genetically Engineered Machine (VGEM) undergraduate team received a bronze medal in the iGEM competition at Boston. Prof. Kwon was a faculty advisor.
