CEREMONY AND COLLOQUIUM - UNESCO-Chair »Cultural Policy for the Arts in Development«
2012, UNESCO in Paris, approved the establishment of the UNESCO Chair »Cultural Policy for the Arts for Development« at the Department of Cultural Policy at the University of Hildesheim.
The ceremony will take place on the Kulturcampus Domäne Marienburg in Hildesheim, Germany, a former castle and the center of Hildesheim Cultural Studies, on 30th and 31st January 2013, followed by the colloquium »Good Governance for Cultural Policy. An African-German Research about Arts and Development«.
Renowned experts of institutions working in the field of culture and development and colleagues from national and foreign academics will participate in the program. For example, we have commitments from Ouafa Belgacem, Secretary General of the »Arterial Network« based in Cape Town, Basma El Husseiny, head of the Cultural Research Institute »Al Mawred Al Thaqafy« based in Cairo and Lupwishi Mbuyamba, director of the »Observatory on Cultural Policy in Africa« based in Maputo and Laurence Mayer-Robitaille, Head of the UNESCO-Programme »Technical Assitance in Cultural Governance«.
The colloquium is organized in cooperation with the German Commission for UNESCO, Friedrich Ebert Foundation and Université Aix-Marseille and is supported by the Ministry for Science and Culture of Lower Saxony.

From 10th to 11th May 2012 we will organize the 10th Consultations on the UNESCO Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions in cooperation with the German Commission for UNESCO, taking place at the University of Hildesheim. Conference »radius of art« of the Heinrich Boell Foundation (international)
On 8th and 9th February 2012 the international conference - »radius of art« Creative politicization of the public sphere. Cultural potential forces for social transformation -was held in Berlin, where the Department for Cultural Policy was involved as a partner in cooperation. Approx. 300 participants from 36 countries discussed in more than 20 forums and workshops. Some takeouts can be seen on Youtube

Loccum-Academy, 24th – 27th February 2012 – Facing new global challenges concepts and goals of Foreign Cultural Policy need to be discussed and evaluated. Conference »Culture for Children in Palestine«
On 13th October 2011 the Goethe Institute in the Palestinian Territories organized a conference on the topic of culture for children in Palestine. Besides other experts, Professor Wolfgang Schneider reported about
culture for children in Germany. The current situation of
culture for children in Palestine was discussed and contents were consequently formulated into a "childrensculturemanifest". This will be further deepened and published by the Goethe Institute.
Forum on Culture and Politics in Cairo, Egypt
A forum on the role of culture in the »Arab Spring« has been held on the 7th and 8th December 2011 by the Goethe Institute Cairo and Al Mawred Al Thaqafy (Cultural Resource / Cairo).
