TLA Tour May 10 2012

The Tallgrass Legacy Alliance met in Madison on May 10 to conduct business and to hear a research report from Dr. K.C. Olson, K-State, on work he is doing on sericea lespedza control with cattle.  The group then toured Dr. Bill Browning's ranch located west of Madison to see the work he has completed with rotational prescribed fire.  Browning has about 2,100 acres that are burned on a 3-year rotation - one-third or 700 acres a year.  The group had the opportunity to see first hand how the pasture burned in 2011 ( a very droughty grazing season) responded.
